PUBG Mobile Pro League MY/SG expands with the inclusion of PH

Tencent has announced the addition of the Philippines in the PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL), joining Malaysia and Singapore.

It was revealed through a Facebook post by PUBG Mobile Philippines. The country will be added as the third zone in PMPL MY/SG (Malaysia-Singapore), which will now be referred to as PMPL MY/SG/PH. Modifications to PMPL Season 5 are scheduled to take effect in 2022.

While most Southeast Asian countries have their own Pro Leagues, the Philippines was left out. To qualify for the PMPL SEA Championship, teams had to battle it out through the less prestigious National Championships (PPNC) and Club Opens (PMC).

Registrations for PMPL MY/SG/PH Season 5 (qualifiers) run from December 31, 2021, until January 9, 2022. To join, players must achieve a minimum rank of Ace.

The first stage for PH Open Qualifier will be happening from January 17 to 19, followed by grand finals taking place from January 22 to 23. The top 1 team will secure a spot in the PMPL MY/SG/PH tournament.

Moreover, top squads from the qualifiers will join Team Sibol to represent the Philippines in the upcoming Vietnam SEA Games in May 2022, as PUBG Mobile is among the 8 esports titles included for the medal events. Sibol is a national esports team organized under the Philippine Esports Organization.

When the Philippines hosted the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, which included esports as a medal event for the very first time in a multi-sport event sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the country established a national esports squad.
